The annual White House Correspondent's Dinner is typically a light-hearted affair, and this year's installment was no exception. The Dinner tends to serve as an opportunity for the President to show off his sense of humor and pop culture savvy, and with a President as charismatic as Barack Obama, these events tend to be ripe with entertaining moments.

While Obama obviously poked fun at himself and at those right wing media outlets who consistently have derided him throughout his two terms in office, he made sure to offer up enough hip-hop references to have the community talking for quite some time. Prior to the President stepping to the podium, the crowd in attendance was treated to DJ Khaled's "All I Do Is Win." Obama clearly enjoyed the moment, even synchronizing his hand gestures to match the chorus.

"How do you like my new entrance music?" Obama jokingly asked the audience, waiting for those assembled to sit back down before going right into the rest of the speech.

Later on, Obama had the chance to take a slick jab at Jay-Z, who caused a media frenzy with his visit to Cuba and subsequent "Open Letter." Talking about issues that he has to deal with that are out of his control, Obama said, "It's unbelievable… I have 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one of them." Interestingly enough, the President does not appear to be as concerned about Beyonce, who also went on the trip with her husband and created her own controversy at the recent inauguration by apparently lip-synching the National Anthem.

With the President entrenched in office for three more years at least, will the President continue to embrace hip-hop as openly as he did tonight, albeit in a joking manner? Is there any way Hov can offer up an appropriate response to Obama's comments? More importantly, has the President discovered that Khaled's ad-libs provide the self-confidence boost one needs to win a grueling election?

''Catholic Priest Indicted On Child Pornography Charges''

A Catholic priest has been indicted by a federal grand jury on a child pornography charges.

Father William Vatterott, a 36-year-old Roman Catholic priest from St. Louis, Mo., was charged with possession of child pornography involving Internet images of a child under 18 years old on Wednesday, according to Reuters. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The indictment against Vatterott says he "possessed at least two images of an unidentified nude boy on his computer between June 2010 and June 2011," KMOX writes.

This is not the first time Vatterott has landed in trouble.

On June 29, 2011, he was placed on administrative leave after a complaint was filed against him by two teenagers who reported receiving inappropriate electronic exchanges from Vatterott, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

At the time, the Archdiocese of St. Louis released a statement regarding the complaints against Vatterott, who served as a pastor at St. Cecilia Parish since 2008.

"None of the reported complaints involved physical contact or solicitation of any sort," the statement read.

The Archdiocese released a statement on Wednesday following news that the priest had been indicted on the child pornography charges, noting that they have "fully cooperated with the investigation" since the beginning.

This latest incident to rock the church has survivors of sexual abuse highlighting the problems that continue to occur since the sex scandal erupted back in 2001.

"We hope that someday Catholic officials will stop using euphemisms like 'inappropriate conduct' and 'boundary violations' and start being more honest," David Clohessy, director of the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP), said in a statement obtained by the Riverfront Times. "It's hard to believe they are trying to reforming when they deliberately use vague minimizing words for these heinous crimes."

Dagrin’s mother broke

Monday made it three years Oladapo Olaonipekun popularly known as Dagrin died in an auto crash. Saturday Beats gathered that three years down the line, the mother of the late rap artiste, Falilat Olaonipekun, is broke. A Blackberry message made the rounds during the week, soliciting for support for the deceased's mother.
The message stated that as Dagrin was being remembered by fans, his mother should also be put into consideration. The message read, "DAGRIN is ALIVE. Yes in our hearts, he is evergreen. It has been three years since our loving Dagrin passed on to rest in the Lord! Show Dagrin's mum some love, drop your widow's mite in her Acct- First Bank branch Acct- 3046543524 Olaonipekun Oluwakemi Falilat."
When Saturday Beats got in touch with the late rapper's manager, Tunde Peter, he said that the broadcast message was authentic and he actually rebroadcasted it when he confirmed its validity.
"Someone sent it to me and as I confirmed that the details are true, I had to rebroadcast it," he said.
The development is quite shocking because though Dagrin did not reign for more than eight months before his death, he made a lot of money especially from shows. No one doubted the love he had for his mother, especially as he said in various interviews that she stood by him, so one would think his estate would make arrangements for her.
Peters further told Saturday Beats that because of the lack of structure in the music industry, nothing is working for Dagrin's parents.
He said, "I feel his mum needs help. She claims that and currently she is not doing anything. Nothing is working at all for all these people. Our music industry is just a flop."

Mary resides in the UK. UK Border Agency officials believe her marriage to a white man isn't real and so they want her deported. May didn't find that funny, and believe if she gets deported she would be killed in Nigeria. Instead, she decided to take her own life. Read her suicide note below.
In her suicide note, May wrote:

'I am deeply sorry that I had to go this way, without even saying goodbye.

'The UK immigration has finally driven me insane. They've pushed me too far this time and I can't take the pain any more.

'I don't want a life or a future you won't be part of. I love you so much, more than life itself and can't endure the agony of not being with you.

'Please forgive me for ending it this way. It's better to die with my dignity than be subjected to torture and undignified death back in Nigeria.'

She said: 'If they send me back to Nigeria they are signing my death warrant, they will cut my life short because I will be killed.

'I have found peace with Michael, he gave me a reason to live. I have got a family here and we don't claim any benefits.

'Michael works and I am studying to become a barrister, we have not harmed anybody.'

May Brown is currently in a coma after attempting suicide. May who is a student of public affairs at Weymouth College moved to the UK three years ago.

She met her husband Michael Brown a year ago and they got married in December 2012. She applied for asylum in the UK. However, her request was denied. According to the UK Daily Mail – "Mr Brown, 34, said UK Border Agency officials believe their marriage to be a 'sham' with no 'emotional attachment'."

While May was due to be deported tomorrow, her husband and mother in-law insist that their marriage is real.

She was so distressed at the prospect of returning to her home country she took an overdose of medication.

In the report on May's ordeal via the Daily Mail, her mother in-law outlined reasons why May did not want to return to Nigeria.

First of all, how much do you worth now?

(Laughs). God has blessed me o. Ah, make I no lie (I won't lie), Oluwa (God) is involved. I can't start counting my blessings but I thank God.

The latest project from your stable now is the DKM album and it drops in two weeks. Give us an exclusive insight into it?

The 'DKM' Album, D Kings Men is a compilation of songs from the artistes on DB Records and is not a D' Banj's Album. It has a compilation of songs and sounds done by DB records artistes comprising myself, Kay Switch and J.Sol. DKM album has already dropped on pre-sales online. This is the first time I will be doing pre-sales of any album and I was surprised that in less than three days, the response was massive. I was in Atlanta and I flew back home immediately. I am actually excited about it and not just for me alone. I'm excited that if by God's grace this works out, finally, it will curb piracy and provide another means of distribution other than Alaba Market.

Are you trying to set up a distribution channel?

Definitely and is not for the benefit of DB Records artiste alone, is for the benefit of all Nigerian acts. The big thing about this is that the distribution of DKM album is not going to be online alone. We have been looking for a way whereby our fans and the masses can get hold of our product other than on the street because I have heard complaints in the past that they don't get the original copies of our albums. So now, it has been structured in a way that it will be delivered directly to your house, once you pre-buy the album. Then, it will be available in all GT Bank offices nationwide. I can tell you categorically that Fally Ipupa is on this album, Kanye West is on the album and Olamide is also on the album. Another shocker is that Durella is on the album (laughs)

Yes, I know a lot of people will be surprised. Wait till you hear the song.

We heard you are also planning an album cum birthday concert?

We are definitely working on the DKM concert and will feature our friends that featured on the album. Other colleagues of mine will also be coming for the DKM concert scheduled for June 2013. It is such a big thing because my birthday is June 9th and we will be celebrating for the whole month of June. The Lord has blessed me and I need to celebrate. We have made such a big plan that when the album drops, I will go on tour throughout the month of June. Any of my fans in any country listed on the tour that already have the album will have access to the tour. The Koko community card inside the album gives them the chance to meet me and groove with me. The grand finale is on June 24th at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel in Lagos where we will be staging the DKM Concert and my birthday bash together. I am bringing 2Chainz from America to perform at the concert.

I'm aware that you have other businesses, how do you manage all of them?

We have a management company called DKM that handles lot of brands and endorsements. So everything is more organized now with the launch of DKM Media last year. We started with the Koko Concert and that is the first time we did a concert and we wanted to do something different. Let me quickly use this opportunity to apologise to all my wonderful fans that trekked that long distance to the Koko Concert last year. I promise them we are not trekking again this year because we have a solid arrangement.

I listened to one of the songs on the DKM album titled Nonsense but I realized the song seems to have a violence theme. How will you explain that?

When I do my music, I do it like a day to day thing. You have heard Suddenly and Mogbona Felifeli. So this new song you are referring to won't be an exception. When I say 'egba ojue' (slap him), it means enough of negative talks around you.

However, how do you end negative talks around you, it's simply by stopping the negative things. For example, if you have an Ipad that is messing up, the best way to 'gba ojue' (slap it) is by repairing it.

With four nominations at World Music Awards including 'Best Song of The Year and Best World Artiste', what is more paramount to you at this point of your career?

What is more paramount to me is the same drive from the beginning. Oliver Twist did number 9 in the U.K top chart, number 2 in U.K R &B and number one in Romania. I will be 10 years on stage next year, though am already more than ten years in the industry but I released Tongolo in March 2004. Within ten years, I have been able to take our music and our culture to everywhere in Africa, Canada, America and Europe. With my partnership with G.O.O.D music and Universal Music, sooner or later, the whole world will hear about D'banj and other artiste like MI, Olamide and many others .We will showcase ourselves to the world and they are going to buy our music. The Grammy too is very near because we have won several Channel O awards, Soundcity, MTV, NMVA and many others.

Having done stuffs with few African top acts like Fally Ipupa, Sarkodie and 2Face, is there any particular African artiste you have in mind to work with soon?

I have done a lot of songs with 2Face but I still want to do more songs with him, infact do an album together. We will call it 'Best of Both worlds'.

Having performed at top world concerts like Wireless, Radio 1 Hackney Weekend and few others, is there any particular concert you are eyeing at the moment?

It will be The Live Nation tour and any other major tour that is top class where I can promote African language and culture. I go to some tours and I'll tell the white people that if you see a rich Nigerian, call him Igwe (King) and they will all shout Igwe. I teach them African languages and culture because I'm an African ambassador. Sometimes they don't know the meaning until I translate.

What is your utmost possession?

For now, I will say is my distribution. For once, we need to get music distribution right in this country and be able curb piracy. Aside, musicians will be able to make so much money from their works.

What is the true story of your former manager, Bankulli's exit from DB Records?

The thing is that I won't really dwell too much on this issue but I want to categorically say everything that everybody has read or heard is a big fat lie.

Infact, I don't know where that story is coming from. There is a definitely time for everything. Bankulli was a wonderful manager and he is still my brother. He is a good guy but he can't be flying around with me again as he now does his own things. He still called us for a show recently when we were in South Africa. When people say someone that worked with me for one year is not working with me again, I laugh. My former manager, Sunday Are still gets me shows. People keep spreading unpalatable rumors.

Are you in touch with former partner, Don Jazzy?

Don Jazzy produced four songs on the DKM album coming out soon. I remember when I was in America and they were mastering a song and I heard the one featuring Fally Ipupa which was produced by Don Jazzy and I was like wow! I called him immediately and he picked up. I said listen to what I'm hearing, this is a music you produced. So don't get twisted like I said, love is a beautiful thing. I'm a businessman and I do what is right for my business. What I'm doing now is what I have always wanted as an artiste, professionalism and good distribution. I don't have any regret.

Tell us about your relationship status…

I have dated a lot of women but I don't really want to talk about them because most of them have moved on and some are married. I don't have any regret at all because I am still young and am still a bachelor.

Do you feel bothered about it when your mum brings up the issue?

Not at all but it's a normal thing for mothers. She is proud of me and I do let her understand that it's not that I don't want to marry but I have not found the right one. If she finds the right one for me; she can call me.

How do you react to rumors and critics?

It's a normal thing for people to talk but you don't have to be distracted. All you need is to stay focused. I want to thank everybody for staying with me genuinely even during the dreadful time. I promise not to let you guys down and you should remember that in everything I do, I'm also human.

Iyanya's Girlfriend​, Emma Nyra, Revealed!

When these two loverbirds were first sighted together, they didn't give any hint of their relationship until recently when it has been revealed. International singer, Emma Nyra and Iyanya first released pictures of themselves together last December, many wondered what was between the two, as the pictures (above) looked very suggestive and full of chemistry.

The exit of Tonto Diko and Yvonne Nelson has now paved way for Emman Nyra, an American based singer who shot into limelight with Iyanya's "Your Waist" video. She also featured Iyanya on her new single "Everything I Do."

I personally didn't think the pictures were really a big deal, because both of them are artists under Iyanya(and Ubi Franklin's) self owned record label Made Men Music.

However, the duo kicked off their US/Canadian tour last Friday 5th of April, and I can unequivocally tell you that Iyanya and Emma are in a 'Tunde and Wunmi Obe' situation, except of course they are not married.

News reaching us gathered that the two are a 'hot item' and very much in love. They were also not afraid to publicly flaunt their relationship.

The verification was made visible on Saturday on Iyanya's account on twitter. With the verification of the singer's account on twitter, Iyanya's profile will now carry the seal of authenticity, which is a blue mark sign.

[Entertainment News]Drake Drops New Track 'Girls Love Beyonce' [Listen]

Drake's dropped two news tracks this week, with fans getting a second dose of the Canadian producer right after they were already well over excited for new track 'No New Friends', which he'd dropped yesterday (April 15, 2013).
According to MTV, the track's title is derived from Drake's 'Started' where he declares: "No new n----as, n---a we don't feel that/ F--- a fake friend, where ya real friends at?" It all makes sense to us, even the bits bleeped out.
Clearly comfortable with where he is sound-wise at the moment, 'No New Friends' is no real departure from what we've known before, with Drake even singing "Man this sh-- so ill that we had to restart it." Check it out below.

Anyway, while that was going on, Drake decided to drop another track, with the 40-produced 'Girls Love Beyoncé' this morning (April 16, 2013). The track also feature James Fauntleroy singing Destiny's Child 1999 hit 'Say My Name.' This one's for the ladies in his life apparently, with Drake singing 'Look, I know girls love Beyoncé, girls love to f--- with your conscious/ Girls hate when n---as go different and shorty you ain't no different." It's a far different, more melancholic side to Drake. It's unclear whether either will feature on his forthcoming Nothing Was The Same LP.

[CelebTweets] 40% of Genevieve Nnaji's Twitter Followers are Fake

The practice of buying twitter followers is no longer a big deal. Almost every Nigerian celebrity uses or used this method to get their first few thousand twitter followers and nobody would even know... until now.

I became interested in this "fake twitter followers" research when a report about Pastor Chris Oyakilome being the most followed Nigerian celebrity on twitter was posted all over the internet some days back. Pastor Chris has about 1.1million followers and Wizkid being the second most followed celeb in Nigeria has about 542 thousand twitter followers. Do they really have that much followers? Are they buying followers?

"Fake followers check" from status people gave me the answer to the above questions on a platter of gold.

Sometime last year, status people created a little tool called "fake followers check". This tool does exactly what its name says; it checks twitter account followers to see if they are real or fake (careful with this tool, once connected to your twitter account, it can follow people without your permission).

According to status people, this is how the tool works: "We take a sample of your follower data. Up to 100,000 (recently upgraded from 1,000) records depending on how 'popular' you are and assess them against a number of simple spam criteria. On a very basic level spam accounts tend to have few or no followers and few or no tweets. But in contrast they tend to follow a lot of other accounts".

We don't necessarily need a robot to spot a fake twitter follower; they are actually so easy to spot. A fake follower usually does not have a profile picture, no bio, little or no tweets, little or no followers but they follow a lot of people. If you manually scan a celebrity's twitter followers you can spot the fake ones but we need the robot to calculate and give us the overall score.

Pastor Chris Oyakilome tops the faker's list as 52% of his twitter followers are fake while Genevieve Nnaji sits on the second position with 40% fake followers. All the other celebrities in the top 10 most followed on twitter list had around thirty something percent fake followers.

Just 30% of Wizkid's twitter followers are fake making him the last celebrity in the faker top 10 list.

After the subtraction, Tiwa Savage became the twitter queen beating Genevieve with about 400 followers.

Also, Tuface Idibia displaced BankyW and became the fifth Nigerian celebrity with the highest twitter followers.

[Ent.News] Rick Ross Issues Statement Apologizing For Rape-Glorifying Lyrics

After being dropped by Reebok, Rick Ross is finally speaking out about the lyrics that critics have said glorify rape.

In a statement released by Ross today (April 12),  he apologizes for his verse on Rocko's single "U.O.E.N.O." in which he raps about slipping a girl a "Molly" (MDMA) tab without her knowledge and later having sex with her.

"Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world," he writes. "So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets."

In the statement, Ross goes on to say: "As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize."

He speaks directly to any woman who "felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence."

Ross also addresses his young male fans, writing, "Please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it's wrong and I do not encourage it."

He adds, "To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it."

Ross had not issued a statement until now, opting instead for a tweet that simply read: "I dont condone rape. Apologies for the #lyric interpreted as rape. #BOSS"

His formal statement comes one day after Reebok dropped him as a spokesperson.

"Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so," Reebok said in a statement, according to Billboard. "While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse. At this time, it is in everyone's best interest for Reebok to end its partnership with Mr. Ross."

Nigerian Singer Davido, can't seem to avoid getting slapped on a regular basis, as he was reportedly slapped again last night by former BBA winner, Karen Igho, after calling her an "Ugly H**" at a Lagos Nightclub. Karen had been in the club with friends before Davido arrived with his HKN Posse. Trouble started when a visibly drunk Sina Rambo walked up to Karen and her friends and asked her for a dance, to which she retorted: "Beautiful Celebs like me don't dance with wack rappers like you, please gaan fine your mate". Her comments appeared to have angered Davido, who came to the defense of Sina Rambo, raining insults on Karen, among other things, calling her "Artificial human being and Ugly H**". This got Karen really mad, causing her to slap Davido 4 times on the face, calling him "Small boy that dunno his age. 19 years for almost 3 years. Idiot" Bouncers were called in to seperate the 2 of them before it degenerated into a free for all. This will mark the 3rd time Davido has allegedly been slapped since he became a star. 6 actually, if we consider the fact that Karen slapped him 4 times. Malky Mackay's side confirm their presence as the top flight's second Welsh team next season, having only needed a draw against Charlton on Tuesday to reach their target

Cardiff City have guaranteed their promotion to the Premier League after a 0-0 draw with Charlton.

Malkay Mackay's side have enjoyed a hugely successful campaign, winning 25 times this season, and currently top the Championship table with 84 points, having been first since November.

Their solitary point against Charlton confirmed their promotion and ensured that Wales will have two representatives in the Premier League next season, with Cardiff joining Michael Laudrup's Swansea City.

NEW YORK (AP) - Chris Tucker will host this year's BET Awards.

The network announced Tuesday that the comedian-actor will host the show June 30 from the Nokia Theater L.A. Live.

Tucker is riding high off of his supporting role in the Oscar-nominated film "Silver Linings Playbook," which starred Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. The 41-year-old is best known for starring in the "Rush Hour" film franchise opposite Jackie Chan.

He said in a statement that he's honored and "looking forward to being part of a really great show."

The BET Awards is part of three-day event the network is putting on that weekend dubbed "BET Experience at L.A. Live." It kicks off June 28 with a Beyonce concert. Other performers throughout the weekend include Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, The Jacksons and R. Kelly.

[News]20-year-old Nigerian becomes the youngest to graduate with commercial pilot licence

A 20-year-old Nigerian, Favour Odozor, has emerged as the youngest with the Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) in both Nigeria and South Africa.

Described as the new hope of the African aviation industry, Odozor graduated alongside with 15 other trained pilots at the Africa Union Aviation Academy (AUAA), Mafikeng, South Africa on Saturday.

The Director of AUAA, Capt. Allan Roebuck, said Mr Odozor completed all the 37 flying procedures in record time.

In his words, "The academy is proud of this young Nigerian, with the award of licence and certificate to him. Today, I
can say he is the youngest commercial licence pilot in both Nigeria and South Africa.

"I cannot say now if he is the youngest African to attain that record, but I'm sure he is the youngest in South Africa and Nigeria.''

Capt. Roebuck emphasized the essence of lots of hard work, focus, punctuality and discipline to be trained as a commercial pilot.

#9jarox News:Microsoft is reportedly joining Apple, Samsung and LG in the race to develop a smart watch.

The software giant is working on designs for a touchscreen watch device, according to the Wall Street Journal, which cited anonymous executives at suppliers.

In early 2013, Microsoft asked Asian suppliers to ship parts for a potential watch-style device, the executives said. One source added that he had a meeting with Microsoft's research and development team at its Redmond, Wash. headquarters.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request to confirm reports.

The company is no stranger to wrist computing. It previously collaborated with Fossil and other watchmakers to create the Smart Personal Object Technology, which was a watch that could link to a user's PC computer via a cable. SPOT provided stock, weather and other updates.

Rumors that Microsoft's competitors are developing smart watches have also swirled online. Sources inside Apple's Cupertino, Calif. headquarters confirmed in February that the company is working on a wristwatch made with curved glass.

A Samsung executive said last month that the Korean electronics giant has been "preparing the watch product for so long."

And for its part, LG is also getting into the smart-watch game, according to sources.

Akon eyes yet another Nigerian artiste

AMERICAN hip-hop star, Akon, is set to sign another Nigerian artiste named Olawale Samuel Ojo, otherwise known as Wazzyno, few months after signing two talented Nigerian artistes; Wizkid and the duo of P Square,
This piece of information was made known by Glittaz Record, the artiste's record label.

According to Mr Bolaji St. Daniel Mattew, CEO of Glittaz Record, the deal will see Convict Music taking over the artiste's promotion on the international scene while his record label handles his promotions in Africa.
The CEO who is currently in the United Kingdom is expected to seal up the deal before returning to Nigeria in April.

There are claims that the two parties began the deal talks sometime last year after meeting at a party in Ghana.

Wazzyno formerly known as Don Soulja hugged the limelight with the hit single 'Tutu' featuring Terry G and Zee World. And based on his high demand, the budding artiste recently did a remix of the song featuring Terry G, Skally Mental and Zee World. The musical video is also gaining ample airplay on national airwaves.
Meanwhile, 'Lewo,' a new single from the artiste, is also gaining more acceptance than expected in the clubs and on national radio stations.

Speaking about his fast-rising career, the Ilesha-Obokun, Osun State-born artiste said his dream is to produce songs that will stand the test of time. "My dream is to produce evergreen songs that will last for eternity. That is why I've modelled my career after the likes of great musicians such as Akon, R-Kelly and Michael Jackson who are icons today.

I'm seriously working hard to make that happen and may God help me out," he prayed.
