" How to Get More Fans on Facebook"

Even if you don't really consider yourself to be the kind of person who is a "fan" of social media, it's something with which you're likely going to have to become very familiar if you want to run your business in the most successful way possible. Ten years ago, this might not have been the case, but today everyone is connected to at least one or more social networks. Today, the social network is something that goes with us everywhere we go. We use social media to communicate with our friends, to discuss the world around us, and to express our emotions on a variety of topics. Somehow, social media integrated itself with many of the experiences that make us human, and this is a thought that's either interesting or scary, depending on where you stand. To the business person, however, it's more of a simple fact, something that's to be taken advantage of if you want your company to really retain the edge.

Along with the increase in social media's ubiquity has arisen an increase in the ways businesses and companies can reach out to and interact with their clientele, both current and potential. Creating that perfect Facebook campaign that has a lot of fans, though, can be something of a question of the chicken or the egg — it doesn't make sense to spend your resources creating crazy dynamic content when nobody's paying attention, but how do you go about getting those followers in the first place? We'll talk about some of the strategies that can help you really boost that following and get your page talked about.

Join the discussion, first and foremost. It's the best way to get yourself noticed. Of course, you've got to have something interesting and/or entertaining to be, but there aren't really any sure-fire strategies for being a creative wordsmith. You can, however, make sure that you're putting those words where people will notice them. Engage in discussions that involve or were started by industry thought-leaders. Be polite, friendly, but retain your own individual tone and voice, so your branding stays consistent. You'll be able to attract new fans and followers by having something interesting or entertaining to contribute to whatever discussion is already happening.

It's also a very smart idea to curate content. Not everything you post to your Facebook should be about you and your business. If you're posting content that is relevant to you and what you do, instead of specifically about you, you'll gain a lot more credibility and will make a reputation for someone who wants to truly help their clients, instead of simply convincing them to buy something. It's a lot harder to buy Facebook fans, Facebook is keen on this kind of activity and has even gone so far as to take action against it. With a well-executed campaign, though, you can have fans coming to you for content that they love and content they know they can trust.
